Hey there,
I'm a new member. New BMW owner. 04 R1150R. Shiny Red. Old Harley owner. Oops is it OK to mention that? Hope so. Husband with Road King. So excited. Need new front fender. Any cool suggestions would help? Want to look alittle different. Also fork is stripped, I guess when they installed pullbacks. So windshield won't fasten. Any of you guys have experience with helicoils? Are they permanent? Otherwise, might have to replace fork.
What do you think? thanks

Welcome. Nice color. You might look into whether some of the other BMW model fenders would fit. The fork legs are the same or quite similar between models. As far as the helicoils, they work fine. There is a brand of solid insert called Timeserts. They probably work better where there is considerable torque applied. You would be looking at replacing the upper triple clamp otherwise. It is not an inexpensive part.
Anyway. Welcome and hope you enjoy your BMW and the folks on them.

Those threaded holes for the windscreen are a PITA to get at. You might want to contact Mike at www.beemerboneyard.com to see if he has an upper triple clamp. He seems to get plenty of Roadster parts.
As to fenders, I started gathering photos of alternative fenders because of my first reaction to the "beak." However, it grew on me and I never swapped it out after 3 years.

Here's one photo of an RS fender, I think.

Mild Hijack to say thanks for the site recomendation. Found a couple parts for a winter project there. They were inexpensive and if the shipping works out it is a great find. Thanks again.

Keep an eye on Ebay for a fender, you could also consider the carbon fibre fender off the Rockster, if you could find one. :groovy

The Rockster fork is different from the Roadster fork. Is it still a straight mount in a fender swap from one to the other?
