You can drain the tank, disconnect the battery and stick the bike in a shipping container with the rest of your stuff.

On the MOA home page, there are some resources for shipping bikes. You might want to try there. But Flash is right, how fast determines how much $.

I'd definitely comparison shop since household shippers calculate cost by weight.
As long as the gas is drained, it shouldn't be a problem. My sense is that motorcycle shippers are going to crush you with the island surcharges. Another consideration of course is that of who's paying, your employer or you?
Best of luck.

I've raced the Transpac several times. Now all you need to do is head south by southwest from San Fransisco and catch those trades and you're home.

You are so lucky to be able to live and ride on the big island................miles and miles of road. I would recommend that you contact Matson and have them ship your bike to the big island. If you google the word Matson you should get their phone number and maybe they can refer you to a local shipper in your area.
I live on Oahu (Honolulu) and the traffic is right bloody nasty......I did have my bike 650 GS on the big island this past summer and it was great!

You should see about renting a bike for the time you are there. The islands are fun to see on a bike.
