Black Fly just went to the dark side and bot a 12GS and have a bunch of toys to transfer from the K11RS.

If you know the RS, you know there isn't much room for electronic farkles and still see the instrumentation.

So, I have a Valentine, Mix-It2, Sirius Sportster 4 and a Garmin 2820 to mount. Except for the Mix-it, it is important that they be mounted in a tidy manner and not block view of the instrument pod. Oh, in the case of a 'high sider' they should be out of the way, also - so the boys don't get hung up on the way by.

There is also a desire to create and mount an electrics box with switched power and live "always on" sources. Also, where to mount it to keep it out of harm's way.

If you care to weigh in on this, please post.

Thanks, in advance.

Dunno what Vardy has, but I've got an RCU on mine and it works pretty well. As far as mounting gizmos, I keep my V1 in the top of the tank bag and the GPS mounts on the triple clamp.

If I get a Sirius radio, I'll probably just mount it on a RAM mount on the bar.

I sure can't give you any advice on this one, but i would love to see a picture of it when you have it all set up

My V1 is mounted on a long arm ram mount on the right side of the handlebar clamp. The garmin 276 is mounted with a short arm ram mount on the left, and positioned so it is near the handgrip. This set-up does not block any of the instruments or indicator lamps.

I use the U bolt clamps with a piece of flattened plastic tubing between the clamp and the bar to keep it from slipping.

I added an extra accessory socket to the faring so I have one located on each side. My garmin plugs into one ad the V1 plugs into the other. This is my quick down and dirty set-up which will be imporved when I add the fuse panel and rewire my accessories.

I am woring on the road right now so this is the only picture I could find in smugmg showing Garmin and V1.

You didn't go to the dark side, you came from it! :D

As for the farkles, I would go with a combination of an RC shelf and Ram mounts. It might look a bit cluttered, but you should be able to do it without blocking the instruments!

ColoktmGS, in one of your pictures I see what appears to be a telephone jack & cord coming out the side of your radar detector. What is it?

that's the power cord to an Escort 8500. It's the hardwire kit for a car, I just hardwired it into a relay and the battery.
