I was wondering how many folks would be interested in a group buy of wilbers shocks I am ready to replace the stock pos on my bike and wondered who might be in?

I know there were some other sport touring guys that bought at a group discount in the past.

I wonder if they have them for the RT?

I might be in, depending on price. We've gotta cut a bunch of trees down and paint the house this fall.

Too late, I bit that bullet and paid retail :deal
They ride better than I do, but I ride better because they are bolted on :clap

Ol' Ruby is getting a little saggy in the rear end, so depending on price I may be interested.

Come get 'em. Cypress, some kind of pine that's taken over my front yard and a very dead cherry tree.

Is that some sort of retro/enviro/luddite alternative to Wilbers? Shocks would give a better ride. :stick

If we got a good price break I would be interested in upgrading the rear shock on my RT :thumb

Possibly. I've been thinking about upgrading the stocker. Need to do a little research first.

Forgive a seemingly dumb question. What would the advantage of a Wilbur shock be versus an Ohlins or the stockers? I have read much about the Ohlins and understand that difference although the name Wilbur I do not recognize. Is it mainly an upgrade similar to that of th Ohlins? Performance and weight loading etc?

The Wilbur salesman stated that the shock is made to your spec while Ohlins are imported then modified to your specs. Not sure how true that is but the Wilburs were cheaper and looked like a quality product. I want a pair for my Roadster but the $900+ price has delayed me.

actually, with such a limited reply, I sort of let it wither on the vine. I am thinking for a really good discount it would take 20+ units to get their attention. I will keep an eye on this thread and see what happens. I think the wilbers products are of good quality and less expensive than Ohlins.

Ask 'em if the can change the name so I don't think about Mr. Ed everytime I hear the name "Wilbers". :laugh

I have emailed the Rep at two different addresses, with no response. I am guessing that they arent interested in a gorup buy, but if they ever reply I will let everyone know.

Are you on the right site? http://wilbersusa.com/wilbers/index.htm

I would phone. The guy asks about 4 questions for each shock order.
1. your weight?
2. your passenger's weight?
3. your luggage weight?
4. your riding style?

There is a group buy going on at the Advrider.com site. You have to pm Ajay for details. Search for wilbers groupbuy and it should pop-up.
Just ordered mine from Wilbers. :D

that might explain why I got no response. He may not want to sell all his shocks in a group buy fashion.

He may not want to, but then again there is a month delivery time on the shocks now. There is a deadline for this deal :deal so if you want/need them better check it out fast on advrider.

I don't mean to spam the group, but...

If you're one of the "depends on the price" people, consider talking to Ted Porter this week. Ted runs the BeemerShop (http://www.beemershop.com), an indie service shop. He's going to be getting a great price on Ohlins shocks, but only for the next week.

The deal is that Parts Unlimited, the Ohlins distributor in the US is offering dealers a big discount, and Ted is trying to take advantage of this and pass it along. It's worth a phone call to see if you can save enough to make it worthwhile.

Disclaimer: I do Ted's web site. Otherwise, I'm just a happy customer.
