Well, I ventured northeast into Wisconsin yesterday for the Slimey Crud Run. It was a beautiful day for a ride, although slightly windy on the return. I have to say that the roads around Leland, WI, are awesome. The scenery was spectacular even though the leaves haven't really gotten into gear yet. I got to the Run at around 10:30...quite early. I was only the 4th person there. Things picked up quickly from there until I had to leave at 1:00. There were several hundred bikes there at the time, and judging by the traffic I met on way south, many more showed up. Here's one interesting bike I saw:

Check out that paint! Red! Who knew?
Another fascinating bike:

From Leland, I headed down to New Glarus and visited the brewery. I sipped a few and brought several home. Enjoying a Staghorn Octoberfest as I write this.
You can see a few other pics from the day here:

That's cool that you came up for the crud run! Thanks for the link to the pictures. I love it that not one but TWO current threads mention my flavorite brewery.... :beer

Cliffy - That is a Munch Mammoth. I don't know much about them, they were German beasts with large engines and enclosed chain drives, I think produced in the 60s and maybe early 70s. The drum brakes have ventilators. I read somewhere they were rated for 135 mph in 4th, 5th was unrated...good marketing, eh? At any rate, it attracted quite a crowd at the Run. I'm sure someone here can enlighten us with more detail.

It was great. I definitely plan on going again. Maybe even semi-annually, since apparently it's a spring & fall thing. I saw no RS's there...you should have gone and represented...
Small, quality breweries are the best. I am proudly wearing my Spotted Cow t-shirt tonight.

Wow. 86.000 Euro. Guess that will stay on the wish list.
There were a boat load of Guzzis up there...I was surprised...apparently lots of 'Sconsinites like 'em. I know one Iowa boy that does too. That LeMans trips my trigger.

I don't like the red K-bike either, "Doctor T" has me on these new pills I don't even look at bikes anymore.
I barely looked at that R90s in Daytona orange or the grey smoke one, oops time for a pill or maybe I'll wander over to IBMWR list, I can take a pill later.
did they have any winter wheat out yet?

They're strangely appealling in their big giant chunkiness (can you tell that I'm a GS owner? :lol)

If you see that red Munch on the Crud Run again, be sure to talk to him, his name is Dave. Really nice guy from Portage WI. He has a few of them and sold one to Jay Leno (so that's the kind of pocketbook you're talking about).
I have alot of miles riding behind that particular Munch, he drives that one the most, that's #201, a 1200cc from about 1973 IIRC.
Ask him about the book he wrote.
