This has to be the dumbest waste of money and time I've ever seen.
What is the point of owning a motorcycle???? :banghead

That is way cool!! What a project! I loved the videos. Multiple gryos and remote control!! Now if we add in the GPS and an aux. fuel tank, Iron Butt here we come. Lets see, it'll need a camera for the bonuses but how to get refueled and those pesky gas reciepts. Oh god I forgot my medication, again.

Sarcasm? :dunno
The robotic vehicles are vying for a prize. The point is to develop autonomous land based vehicles that could then be used in situations that might kill us rather expensive and fragile humans.

A 2 millions dollar prize at that. To get 175 miles.
Of course, last year (Fora 1 million prize) none seems to have got farther than 10 miles, but you have to start somewhere.

seems to me this might be easier to deal with on a four wheeled vehicle, then again, watching the competetion last year, they didn't have much luck either :lurk

I'd like to see these guys win the prize. Equipped with the lastest version of SATNAV and sticking to slab all the way, I bet they'll drop this thing on a dime at the Mack Center.

PS How many of us remember the introduction of paralever, telelever, ABS, cruise control and GPS on bikes? These ideas didn't just drop out of the sky. They started with student and graduate engineers asking what if.....?

AFAIK, all the other entrants are 4-wheelers.
What can I tell you, I just like cool gadgets. And bikes. And this is a bike that's a cool gadget.

Yes, according to sources who spoke on the condition of anonimity (don't you love american journalism's euphemistic description of a leak?) this unit will fully deploy a 2 person tent and matching Kermits at a point not to exceed 100m from the nearest beer source.

Cool. I admire the programmers for their hard work writing all that code. :type .I guess that must have taken quite some time.
