One of two male fuel disconnects on my '02 Roadster broke off in the opposite female connector at 2 am this morning while preparing the bike for a dayride today. Luckily, each end is sold separately, and the male end was in stock at the dealer when I sneaked in early 6 hours later.

Is there any pattern of breakage of these? Male? Female? Both? I ask because I will keep an extra handy if that's the case. I seem to remove my tank and use the disconnects about 2 - 3 times a year. The new unit seems to slide in and lock easily, while the old one is resisting, even with a thin touch of grease. (I am already aware of the o-ring issue and the clamp issue.)

Thanks!

Fred

I always had trouble reconnecting the QD's on my R1150RT. One always resisted even with grease. They are plastic and can snap if forced. I snapped one trying to change the Oetiker clamps. They also sprung a leak three times in the space of two weeks. It was more the fault of the Oetiker clamps than the QD's. I got fed up and removed them. I replaced them with one piece fuel injection hoses and screw type fuel injection clamps. I remove my tank usually once a year so I can do without them.

Team Triumph (http://www.rideteamtriumph.com/sprint_st.htm) sells metal (chrome plated brass) replacements for the cheap plastic ones they put on Triumphs. My guess is that they're the same.
If those don't work, I have the link to the company that sells them (with a whole lot more variety) at home.
