That is really cute. I've got 4 kids and they loved putting on the gear--didn't matter it was way, way too big. Haha. Thanks for sharing.

So what do you think? How does the boxer twin engine compare to the old Honda flat four? Was there anything about the Honda that you miss?

I'm just curious.

Who said a RT has to stay on the tarmac?

http://i768.photobucket.com/albums/xx323/mike_philippens/P1000207.jpg
This is on my trip to Morocco. This was just a little show for the picture (the road is behind the photographer) but we did some gravel/dirt roads as we traveled the 'outback' in Morocco. There were also roads that were partly destroyed by flash floods and falling rocks from the mountains. Some roads looked like they were hit with clusterbombs...but my RT took it well, thanks to the HyperPro shocks and spoked wheels.

Since then, some things have changed for my Beemer:
http://i768.photobucket.com/albums/xx323/mike_philippens/Daktari/IMAG0020-1.jpg
I painted the casecovers white and put on 'Daktari-style' stickers.

Africa.... someday. Sigh..
I realise it's a bit out of your way, but it's addictive. As soon as you drive off the ferry in Morrocco, you feel that you enter another world. For us it was a 2500km ride from Holland to the south of Spain, and we rode around in Morrocco for two weeks and went back.
This year, I go back. I'm helping to get a team together to drive to The Gambia for charity. We go through Morrocco, Mauretania and Senegal. We're planning to do some 'Dakar' stages (not the same speed, just the route) as we go through the Sahara desert. We go on old Yamaha XT600Z Tenere's and we're donating them to Riders For Health. This organisation gives them to doctors so they can provide medical care to people too far away from the clinics. We also donate spare parts, so the bikes can keep going.

It's part charity, but also a big Dakar style adventure for us!

Africa is great for driving a bike, but unfortunately, parts of it are dangerous because of wars and criminals. Some reports are exaggerated but there are parts where there's a real threat of landmines or robberies. But if you know where to go, it's quite safe.

Looks brilliant! I always liked the S. I was in Italy at the F1 GP when this bike was introduced and somewhere in town of Monza, a couple of them were parked. The Italians were absolutely in love with it, even though it's not a Ducati. They loved the exhaust and the lines. Very nice to see the true love for the design withouth nationalism.

Dare I ask how you did it? Are you a pin stripe artist yourself? It look so tight! Great job, however you did it!

Just got my rebuilt seat from Rick Mayer. I have seen a few members with the same seat on the R1100S. It is not perfect comfort, but it is much better than stock.

I was not able to ride to his shop for a custom fit, maybe someday.

It's weird, but I like the stiffer foam of the Corbin seat on my K75S. Put an Alaskan Leather sheepskin buttpad on it, and it is near perfect.

This appears to be a stock seat. My guess is that it was re-covered by the PO, and he installed some kind of gel insert. That appears to be an air-valve, so that once the seat is compressed, it draws air back in. That's all i can figure out, apart from tearing it apart!

Thanks I agree about the best looking bike BMW made. Yes custom painted bags and PIAA lights on an AutoSwitch. It also has both side brake/clutch RAM mounts, and two Powerlet plugs on the fairing. 44,000 mile and runs very good. I will zero the maintenance when I have a chance. Just got the peg lowering.

Thank you! Even though the R1200c wasn't well recieved by alot of old time BMW riders, it's perfect for me. Here it is almost 10 years later and the bike STILL looks stylish.

I bought my 1994 RS new and even uncrated and assembled it myself at my dealers. It's been in storage the past 5 years while I had a shoulder and hip replaced, but it's back on the road now showing 125,000 miles. Still looks almost new after 17 years!! This photo was taken at Deals Gap before another run on the dragon.

I wanted the same bike as yours with the same color scheme before I bought my Phoenix. There were none to be found except in Manhattan at the time. My dealer in NJ tried to get them to swap for a bike they had and the Manhattan store wouldn't budge. Make sure you keep it, i'm sure it's going to be a collectors item.

I would try craigslist first with a few pics and maybe a link to a place you keep better pics? (craigslist pics leaves alot to be desired) Be ready for lots of tire kickers and low ballers.

Unless you're planning on converting it to a racing bike, keep the bags. Someday you're going to decide to sail to California with it and tour the coast, maybe ride the Sierra Nevada, visit Utah, or who knows what. You'll be happy to have them.

Sell the Givi here on the flea market.

They say the definition of insanity is doing the same thing twice and expecting a different outcome. Well, yesterday I bought back my 2004 1150GS that I sold a year ago. As soon as the new owner rode around the corner with it I started having seller's remorse. I finally talked him into selling it back after a year. An expensive lesson learned.

Yeah, I also got a lot of compliments about QuickSilver...it was a great bike. Enjoyed it immensely, but got the hankering for something a bit sportier. My Titan Gray/Mandarin S is even more fun (IMHO) than the R was...

The R was sold to another local rider, he uses it for a daily commuter, and it's been completely glitch free. I got a good price for it, but he still thinks he stole it from me. LOL

Very, very nice. You must've been very good this year.

Hah! Maybe. Broke up with my girlfriend 3 weeks before Christmas, took back all her gifts, and had a nice stash that was burning a hole in my pocket. Played Santa to myself!!!

In that case, can I be your girlfriend?

Caveat: I am NOT female.

Just kidding!

It's not mine, but I know the answer: That's a Givi accessory. http://www.twistedthrottle.com/trade/productview/618/419/

Changed the color from drab gray to PPG Alpineweiss 3 from the late model BMW car colors. Also, changed out the motor for a newer Dual Spark.

IMHO, he's okay posting that...after all it is an "original" S. :laugh

So he gets a pass vote from me...but then I am sort of "closet" R90S fan. :whistle

OTOH, I'll take my '04 S over an R90S any day of the week, and twice on Sundays...

Sold the K75S and replaced her with this Rockster. Added some goodies such as the Gimbel belly pan, Sargent saddle, IICE Air, and an HID low beam (not a cheapo kit from China). Here she is: http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h54/torxsteer/DSCN0424.jpg

Why thank you. Coming from a brick to this, the change is drastic but I'm very happy with the update. It reminds me of my father's 74 R90S on steroids in every facet.

Perhaps if I'd gotten one of those in '04 instead of a standard Roadster I'd still have it. But on the other hand, I do like my Gray/Mandarin 11S.

Again with the Gray/Mandarin, eh? Well, I guess if you can't have a Pacific Blue one, Gray/Mandarin is a good second choice. :rofl

And that IS a great looking Rockster!
