its friday morning, and can't wait for game day.
Last week we stunk up the Joint.
the day starts with Lombardi Legends tribute to Reggie White, then its a tailgate party with More legends from Lombardi's era, after that its off to the game, halftime we retire Reggie's #92.
It will be the last time I ever put on his Jersey to wear at a game. :cry
(hasn't been washed since the '96 season, kinda smells funky with a hint of beer, brats, sauerkraut, hotwings, etc.)

Sorry Mark, but I think the most exciting games of the year may be the Vikes vs. Packers. Talk about efforts in futility.
Sorry, I'm a realist. I think both your team and mine kind of suck this year. Or at least so far.
Hodag

we suck at the beginning every year. somehow we make it to the playeroffs and lose first round.
I do like the packer-Vikes games, with no moss we have few worries.

Nah, , Brad, all the old loyalties have faded in the dust with greedy owners, spoiled players and big tv contracts for the networks. Now it's about merchandising and collaterals. Teams don't build stadiums, taxpayers, manipulated by local pols do.
The Romans had an expression "give them bread and circuses" to pacify the populace. I recall the chicanery of the current Patriots owner Mr. Robert Kraft, certainly an "honorable man" by any standard who blackmailed Boston into buiding his team a new stadium. Mr. Kraft engaged in "negotiations" with Governor John Rowland of CT another "honorable man" currently serving time in prison for malfeasance. Mr. Kraft's operatives leaked the story that CT would build a specacular new stadium as part of Hartford's "rebirth" and the pols in beantown went crazy. falling all over themselves to be the one who "saved" the pats. The rest is history. Kraft gets to put his money into buying a superbowl champion. Sound familiar?
I salute guys like Mark. When others run to the "hot" team they "stick". In my small town in CT there was a tavern called Callaghan's, a traditional watering hole where the owner was a diehard Packer fan. He festooned the place with authentic Pack memorabilia. Every Sunday in the fall he had the satellite feed.
It was classic "black and blue" division football with the Vikes, Bears and Lions. Well, the bar changed hands, the new guy is deciding whether or not to re-open at all and certainly not as a cheesehead hangout. The pats are
the new team in town. Locals wandering around in their regalia on game day wearing shirts with the names of guys traded away. I asked a friend of mine who the pats were playing a couple of games down stream, he had no clue.
Sad state of affairs.
Mark, give us the real deal on the Pack, week in and week out. I want to see some real "in your face" insults not the candy assed trash talk of these moron cornerbacks. Bring it.

BTW: New York Football Giants, a real team with an authentic NFL pedigree. lol....
Man....I have to lay off the caffeine.........

The Pack doesn't have a greedy owner, we have guys such as myself. I attend our owners meeting every year, only stockholders meeting with tailgating before it. This year we were treated to a private practice and free lunch in the stadium, it was 1/2 full.
We are an exception to the rule. Malls empty, streets clear during a Packer game. (My wife had to explain to her new west coast DM why sales drop on sundays, the DM could not comprehend it. Until she went to a sears during a game and 95% of the employeees were in the TV section watching the game)
my take this week, Favre gets hot and lights it up, our defense falters and it turns into a shootout. Final score 31-21 PACK
Walker we will miss you, but bad karma and a attempted holdout, didn't win you any friends. Brett can make a decent receiver look good.
All you Pats fans enjoy it, a good team is a great thing. Multiple dynasties are even better.

ughhhhhh
It was an interesting day, started with a salute the Reggie, lots of old teamates remembering the Man. Kinda sad, he was a hero of mine.
A little tailgating , with brats and kraut, beer, and of course cheese. Talked with Fuzzy Thurston, and got an autograph. (Fuzzy was a Lombardi original)
Then the Game started with a kick ass fly over by 4 F-16's. They came in low, and hit afterburners right above us. WOW
We took the openning drive for the score, then gave up. came back a little to late, and no intensity.
halftime was pretty intense with the retirement of reggie's number. got a little teary eyed during the highlight film. we could use you Reggie, he was a game changer.

Right now the way we are playing 8-8 looks like a high goal, but I'll stick by them.
GO PACK

Bummer about the Packers Mark. Losing to the Browns is not a good thing.
On the other hand, anyone with the Bengals on their schedule should be very nervous. :D

...but I would hesitate to give the Bengals too much credit too early, considering the Vikings team (if you could call it that) that they played yesterday. Bleeaach! :hungover
Thankfully, it was an absolutely gorgeous day here yesterday in Minnesota, and I was outside all day long coaching softball. Watched the lowlights on the news last night.

a 6-10 record may win the division, so your Bears are definitely in the hunt.
I think there is very little about football in the subtext of some of the posts.
The Bears may turn out to be the hunt in the Central. Good thing hunting and football season coincide.
Oh Yah, Dare Hey.....
