I know, I know, this is a BMW web site. but has anybody seen the story on the new Honda Gold Wing. It has a functional air-bag system as an option for 2006.

I wonder when, or if, or even why; BMW, HD, and other touring bikes will have one of these required by NHTSA? Now that Honda leads the way.

Looking at the picture though, your face and head will fare well in a frontal (only) crash, but your knees and arms are still left to receive major breakage.

These things scare me, becuse they will someday build the HURT-Bike and take all the fun out of riding.

During the Reagan administration they did try to get seatbelts required on motorcycles. Thank Jean Kirkpatrick.
So in what percentage of accidents is Honda's airbag that useful, and in what other types of accident will it fire, and what will it cost to replace once deployed?
