I recently purchased a 1997 R1100RT, replaced fuel tank, complete with fuel pump guage etc,.checked fuel pressure at the injectors, it's good, voltage at injectors was 2 to 3 volts, when I removed the injectors and cranked the engine there was no fuel from the injectors when the voltage surge came, I have no idea how much voltage I should read at the injector. Does this indicate motronic problem or maybe injector problem? Can the motronic unit be checked off the machine or do I have to take it into the dealer?

1> this will be better served in the "Tech/Oilhead" forum. I'll look for future posts there.
2> Fuel pressure is "good"? What psi reading after fuel pump spins up 3 or 4 times?
3> Has the bike sat for more than 6 months in what part of the country? At what time of year? With/without fuel? Outside?
4> It takes an oscilloscope to check injector signals, a voltmeter can't. The signal is ~.8 -> 3.4 mS wide as an active low, ergo the 2-3 volt meter average.
You should see a very fine mist of fuel as a ~2" wedge pattern, when the injector pulses, by laying it on a piece of cardboard. I've had injector pintles stick from dried out gas. Got them to back to work by Carefully! pushing the pintle open with a screwdriver (this is NOT a recommended procedure, but had nothing to lose).
Welcome to oilheads! I'm not slamming a newbie, nobody's born knowing this stuff. Good Hunting... <<<)))
