1) Won't hold my login information and I have to login everytime.
2) The forum uses my alias "selil" and the BMWMOA site uses my membership number.
3) I can't seem to be able to change the look of the vBulletin to something I can see.

Hmmm Jeff, have you tried reseting your password by saying you forgot it.

Sam, you should be able to use the same log in both places. Hmmm, I will need to go in search of a little more. Also the team is already working on new skins for the forum that should help.

Ok I'm in ........... Near as I can figure if you logged into the forum first did all the gobadygook required (password and log in screens) then you don’t need to use the default login (member # and zip) just use your forum login and password. Worked for me

I had similar problems; to add to them, every email I sent regarding the problem bounced. I couldn't even post.

Now I'm in with my username and old log in. I guess it's just growing pains.

The site looks great. Thanks to all concerned for all the hard work. :dance

When I attempt to send an email to anyone@bmwmoa.org, it bounces with the following message:

Recipient: <Updates@bmwmoa.org>
Reason: 5.7.1 <Updates@bmwmoa.org>... Relaying denied. Proper authentication required.

What can I do to resolve this annoyance? I need to get in touch with folks.

Give it time. After I tell the servers that mail needs to get routed through a certain IP address, it can take more than 48 hours for the change to become global. Until it gets fully resolved, mail can bounce and funny error messages can be generated.

I decided to try the password reset button when the "preassigned" password thing didn't work. That was the secret to my success. You can see there are about 10 members/ 90 guests. Little frustrating, but not as bad as the "down for construction" message.

I guess my aggravation/frustration reveals just how much I love this forum and what an important part of each day it is. Patience is not my strong suit; thanks for the reminder to chill out and give it time. I'm sure it will all be good.

finally got in, (had to kinda trick out the system but oh well.)

it was like in high school you and all your friends go to a bar and your the only one that gets carded and you have to go and sit in the car and you can see them inside having fun and your stuck outside and then you get drunk on the bottle of peach schnapps and then you puke in the back seat of the car and then you walk home and then your buddy calls you the next day and then asks if you were the one who puked in his backseat and then you say "what happened, dude wasn't me"

Prob I'm having is that when I go to the new secure area and login with my membership number and default password it forces me to change it..

Fine but Heloooooooooo, I'm typing the exact same password I just logged in with (default) into the old password section and it's telling me it's invalid.. :drink

Is it less than 6 characters or does it include something other than A-Z or 0-9?

It's saying my original one is wrong.. The one that is the combo of the last name and the zip code.. It works to get me in far enough to change it but then no-go..

Hmmm...it appears that you did successfully update your password (I can see that it was updated, not what it is) as far as the forum and the 'regular' site is concerned. What happens if you use this password on the secure services?

It seems a LOT faster BUTT it took me about 4 tries to get in. Brad posted the IP address (since www.bmwmoa.org is still dead in some areas) and it took me to the secure area first thing. I entered my old password (I had previously verified my member # and password were good about 3 weeks ago) and it knew who I was. I tried to enter the forums and it puked. :dunno
Next I deleted ALL the cookies I had stored for bmwmoa AND the IP address 72.3.249.89 I went back to the site via the IP and tried to enter the forums, no luck. I used 4 of my 5 attempts to get in. Next I went to the secure area and tried the last name/zip for the password and my member # as my login name. No luck. Next I told it to RESET my password and mail it to me.
About 3 minutes later I get a link to change my password. I plugged in my new chosen password (chosen by ME not them) and it let me in. I then signed into the Forums successfully.

The good news is that all this happened REALLY fast compared to the old site. :hug

OK, after many, many attempts I managed to get logged in by "forgetting" my password and using the new assigned P/W number. But, like einnar, I can't log in to the secure services area in order to change the password. I've tried using the assigned P/W number and it tells me my "login or password is incorrect or expired." I've tried the default (member # and name/zip) and all that does is endlessly return me to the login screen.

That's the same problem I've been having.. I even went to the "Reset Password" are at the bottom of the secure services area and tried to do it there.. I entered in the same email used to reset the password on the forum. In the secure services area it tells me that the email addr. is invalid.. :violin

I am guessing since I have the same problem that it is within the server. I have faith that the guys will have it straightened out soon. If you depended on me to get this new server up and running, you would be finding a new forum to browse.

I'm sooooooooooooooooooooooooooo frustrated. This was horrible trying to log on to this site and I'm a card carrying member. What happened to the 3 day up and running talk y'al walked? Also, I was so dismayed to have the rules of this club put in such a fashion...Sounded like big brother is gonna pull the plug on me if I get out of line...wassssssssssssssssssssss up with that? Now I haven't sworn or taken punches at any one person here...I don't mind rules and think we need them. And I will follow them as they are laid out but who is going to monitor the monitor?

There were a lot of parts to put together and some weren't able to be tested until we'd moved everything together. It wasn't what we'd hoped for, but when a project is complex, things can happen that aren't anticipated.

The forum has been up and running for a couple years now. If you look in the Doghouse, you'll see that there aren't more than a dozen threads in there. We let people talk. We let them talk a long time. Sometimes, threads get so wound up that it helps to let people take a day off, catch their breath and think a bit. That's what we did with the ON thread. There are a couple running again, but without the vitriol of the previous one. The brief time out was a good thing for folks, it would appear.

Monitor the monitor? I'm not sure what you mean. At some point, you're going to have to trust people. I think we err on the side of letting things go here.

Ride safely!

I have the same problem that many of you have. I can get on the forum but can't get into secure services. Sandee worked with me for several days last week but it still won't let me in.
I've cleared cookies and caches, tried two different browsers, etc. I also get the message that my email address doesn't match the records if I try the reset password feature.
I'm sure that they will eventually get the bugs out but it's a PITA in the mean-time.
At least, I'm able to get on the forum. For that, I'm a happy camper. :type

Whatever happened to the little bowing twerp over on the smilies page? You know, the little blue guy..."I'm not worthy...I'm not worthy!" - it was a favourite of mine and is the only smilie missing from the page - at least on my version of the page.
All it shows now is ":bow" ` ` ` :dunno ` ` ` Is he comin' back sometime?
Thanks.

Logged in on laptop, had to start over but I got in, set new password-same as before.
Back to desktop, can't get in, will not e-mail me.

Today (Tuesday) it let's me change my password and even recognizes my email address if I use the reset password feature...................but, after changing the password and it accepts it, if I log out and try to log back in with the new password, it refuses to recognize it. However, it accepts the old password that it accepted before I changed it. Interesting. :lurk

That is why he isn't allowed into Canada

Also if it is any help, I am also having problems getting some of the secure stuff to work consistently, but part of that is because of all the testing on multiple machines.
