The 'R100S' model plate fell off the right side of my engine case at speed and is gone. Does anyone know where to get a replacement?

Thanks.

You might try having your dealer's parts guy see if he can locate one.

Also, try Max BMW web site. I've discovered other bits there that are NLA at the dealer.

I also bought an engine badge for my R75/5 from someone. Not a NOS part, but a knock-off. Almost accurate, but heavy metal--maybe pewter rather than aluminum. I'm thinking I bought it from Blue Moon, but can't remember for sure.

I have also discovered starter covers complete with aluminum model badges at rallies and swap meets. You can carefully remove the badges, brush off any corrosion, retouch the chips with zinc chromate primer and black paint, polish the raised letters, and re-apply with some wonder stickum. (or, preferably, screws.) That gets you an absolutely stock appearance (well, except for any screw heads--that you paint black)

Thanks guys.

I found the 'Type Identification Plate' on the Max site...unfortunately it is no longer available. Confirmed same with my parts guy. I guess I'll have to keep my eyes open and poke around a bit, or try the replica route.

Try Perry Beemer Exchange. It's a guy who runs a business in old parts and restorations out of his house. The phone number is 765 564 6338. I'm pretty sure he doesn't have email and I know that there isn't a website. The guy who runs it is named Galen Perry.

Hey gang, I found my part...actually got 2 nice used ones from a fellow in the IBMWR classifieds.

Now, pmdave refers to wonder stickum...what specifically would you use to affix these (if I don't go with screws)?

As always, thanks for the input.

I've used 3M emblem and badge tape with great success in other applications. Make sure you put it on right the first time, that stuff sticks like, well, glue.

I knew I voted for you for a reason.
