R75/5 Red

I am new to BMW’s. My first is a 2000 R1100RT (last year). I am looking at vintage R75/5 (Red)(titled 1974) toaster tank. It as not run since 82 and been in a garage. Half of the time unheated. Paint looks good and the chrome some light rust. It will need all new rubber and tubing. The bike is covered with 20 year of dust and dirt. I have worked on my own bike for 30 year, so I have no problem doing the work to get it back on the road.

He is asking $2,500. Is this a good buy or is he asking too much?

In good condition a R75/5 is worth between $3,500 and $4,500. $2,500 sounds reasonable if the engine and tranny mechanically sound and the bike is complete.

FYI big ticket replacement cost items include exhaust system ($700 to $900) and tach/speedo (over $400). :drink
