Please take this comment in the spirit in which it's intended: That bike is really ugly, in a totally cool kind of way. What I mean is that it's got this real utilitarian, in-your-face kind of look about it. It looks like something you'd ride on your way to your job as a 30-story crane operator or a skyscraper demolition expert. As Paris Hilton would say, "That's hot!"

Joe,no apology's necessary...I always thought the same thing.......
The airhead GS is so ODD and UGLY looking,I couldn't agree more!!

Yet, I find that as my biggest attraction to this particular bike/model!!! :dunno
Secondly,would be the comfortable ride it offers me, IMO.... :clap
And last but not least...the simplicity of maintenence and repair. :thumb

:clap I agree with those comments!! I currently am looking at a R 1150 GS Adv.
That bike looks as if it could climb walls and spit out the bricks as it does so. :D
It is not beautifull in an elegant italian designed way, but the ' ugly duckling' look has a charm all of it's own. Funny how that brawny look has a beauty all of it's own and therefore has become very attractive!! :clap
I say function over form in this case is a good thing, and who says that bikes are rational anyway??? :bikes
