About an hour north of Missoula on highway 93 is Flathead Lake. At the southern tip heading up the western side is a Best Western right on the lake. Here is was the view out the window of my room last summer.
You can ride through Glacier and back in the same day with pleanty of time. There's plenty of other motels including a real nice KOA if you choose to camp.

You didn't say where you were starting from, but many of the best rides in Idaho and Western Montana can be reached starting from Missoula, Montana. One of my favorites is to follow Hwy 93 south from Missoula to Arco, ID, then cut over to Mountain Home on Hwy 20 and a short jump on the Interstate to Boise. The fun really starts from Boise by taking Hwy 55 north. Hwy 55 connects with Hwy 95 at New Meadows, and 95 continues north to Lewiston, ID. At Lewiston, catch Hwy 12 east to Lolo, Mt and back to Missoula. This loop is just short of 1000 miles of some of the best motorcycle roads that Idaho has to offer.
Also from Missoula, you can ride north along Hwy 93, past Flathead Lake to Kalispell and Glacier National Park where you can ride the "Going to the Sun Highway." To return, try MT Hwy 82/83 past Swan and Seeley lakes, to connect with Hwy 200 back to Missoula. This loop is about 500 miles, with some great scenic mountain and forest views. Make sure you've got plenty of film in your camera and watch out for bears!
Always be aware of the potential for rapidly changing weather conditions while riding in the mountains. You can start the day riding in bright sunshine and 70 degree temps, only to find yourself riding in snow and hail a few hours later. Dress in layers and keep your rain gear handy!
Have a great trip and Ride Safe!

Ha ha ha, this sounds familiar, doesn't it, Randy?
The only problem is keeping you off the REALLY backroads of Montana, because (as Randy pointed out last year while I was helping him find great rides) lots of the maps show roads with numbers and even names with "Highway" in them, but they aren't paved or improved since the 1940s. So, do not attempt the Skalkaho Highway on an RT, for example, especially if it's been raining.
If you don't want to go as far West as the Idaho border (although Lolo Pass is wonderful) then consider the Beartooth Highway (oh, look, it says "highway" but this one is paved), although watch the road reports, Red Lodge has had a lot of flooding and that route will be a mess after spring runoff. Two names for the same route from Cody, WY: "Sunlight Basin" and "Chief Joseph Highway" (dang, there's another "highway" name, but it's paved, too) and it's a wonderful ride, go past Absarokee to get to I-90.
Anywhere West of Helena.
Anywhere centered from Missoula. That's where I live. Send me a message through the forum if you'd like.
Heck, Randy, weren't you going to be in the area at this same time? Let's all ride.

Montana is right about Montana for sure. It was a great surprise for me last year. Just beautiful and really great roads. I'm planning to be up there around July 12th so I can try Lolo pass this time as well as Beartooth.
Can't wait!
