I've got a 99 r1100rt and have had all sorts of problems with the sift linkage coming loose. I road the bike from Everett, WA to Las Vegas in March, drove all over the place, hit death valley had no problems all week while in LV. I head down to Phoenix AZ and just outside (NW side) at 9 PM the linkage almost falls off! As luck would have it I'm under the only streetlight in 30 miles. The ball joint in the linkage came off the transmission. :dunno The next day the rear allen bolt of the linkage starts coming loose and I can't shift so I tighten it up. The day after that I'm in Winnemucca NV and the same rear allen bolt comes loose and I put locktite on it and tighten it up again. I haven't ridden much in the past month but started having downshifting problems the past week. I check the rear bolt and it's loose again? :dunno I thought the locktite would do the trick.
Has anyone had these types of problems before and what did you do to remedy the situation?
