I am looking to get back into riding after over 10 years away and would like to find a nice R1150RT with low miles. I just re-joined BMWMOA yesterday and am anxiously awaiting a copy of the latest NEWS for the classifieds. I have also been watching ebay, but those seem to be going a little high. So I was wondering if anyone has any ideas on other places to look. If it's a factor, I live in the western most part of Kentucky about half way between St. Louis and Nashville.
Thanks for your help!

Backagain,

Try out http://www.ibmwr.org They have a classified section called Marketplace, which lists only BMW's from all over the country. 3 weeks ago I found a beautiful 04' R1150R at a great price at this site and after making contact with the owner bought my first BMW! You will find a great selection to choose from although you may have to travel to get it or have it shipped, it is still a great resource.

Hi Backagain,

All the places indicated above are good, especially ibmwr, however there is a lot of FISHING (as I call it), you know: If I can get my price I'll sell it, but if not I'll keep it. You might try: cycletrader.com, where they charge for an ad so things are more serious. Cycletrader is nationwide, search by type, location, price etc, and of course look on ebay. I looked for months, finaly bought a bike at my local dealer. He had a consignment bike that was exactly what I wanted. We went back and forth with owner to get the price more reasonable, but in the end I bought at a fair market price. Look at KBB.com or NADA.com for trade-in and retail pricing. They give you a range of what to expect to pay.

Good luck, half the fun is looking for what you want at the price you can afford.

One of my side jobs is a professional bike shopper. You let me know where and what type of bike you want and i'll find it. So far this year I have found over 40 different bikes that my customers have been looking for.
well so far I'm my only customer and I haven't bought any, but I've gotten good at it. (contact boxergirrlie she'll attest that I find a different love everyweek)

Good luck on the hunt, thats the second best part.
