Does anyone have experience witht the new Metzler Lasertec tires? I read in BMWON that this is a completely new (and improved) version of the laser. Same tread pattern, with improved traction and handling.
I will be replacing the rubber on my R75/6 and am considering these.
Thanks

Hello Markst1
I just put a new set of Michellin(sp?) Macadams on my R75/6 and took them from Norman OK to the Washington DC area. They work great! Sorry, don't
know anything about the Metzlers. I got the Michellins because thats what was available on short notice. Bruce
The lasertecs that I have seen in Parts Unlimited catalog are actually less expensive than the lasers. The problem I have is that the rear tire is only available in a V-rating. I don't know about you but my airhead isn't going 150mph. The H-rated 130mph limit suits me fine.

If it's cheaper and rated for higher speeds what is the problem? Does a higher speed rating mean it doesn't work as well at lower speeds? If so I should never buy a tire rated over 100 mph.
The problem I have is that the V-rated tire wears out in about 5000 miles.

I've never had *ANY* rear tire last 5000. And I'm not the world's most aggressive rider.
You've never had a rear tire go more than 5K miles. That is surprising to me. I'm always hearing stories from people who are getting 15K and I am shocked by them as well. I guess if I am getting 8-10K I'm right in the middle.

My Z6's just cross 8K miles and will probably get another 1 or 2K out of them easy.

Thanks bprigge, I wasn't sure on the Avon number but now that you mentioned it I remember it was the 21 that I got 18K miles out of the rear on a K100RT. I also remember it was Hard Rubber/Slippery when wet. I will sleep better tonight without having to pull over and change the air in my head...
