I'm planning on putting a Remus titanium exhaust on my 02 1150GS. Does anyone have any advice on eliminating the cat w/ the Y-pipe as opposed to ordering it with the collector (colostomy bag)? I like the enhanced weight reduction with the Y pipe, but want to do what's best for the bike. Also, I have the option of a chip or techlusion. Any feedback would be appreciated.
I put a colostomy bag on my R1150R. It is not difficult to change. It will save weight, but not as much as the y pipe. The key to the bag option is it allows you to use the O2 sensor and does not require a change in chip.
Expect backfiring with either one.

Got a Sebring Y Pipe, has bung for O2 sensor. As stated, backfiring occaisionally occurs when downshifting, not bad, but there. Cheaper, smaller and lighter than colostomy bag, and with stock pipe, bike sounds a little less like a sewing machine.

Thanks. The GS is in for the installation this week. Y pipe has the 02 sensor port as well. I've heard the backfiring is a function of perhaps leaking seals, but don't really know. We shall see..........

Let me know if you figure out how to stop the backfiring. It doesn't bother me, and I have been able to almost get it to the point where I can control when it occurs, comes in handy if you are cut off.

It also gives the bike a little more sound, deeper, more of a growl than a purr.

Thanks. I don't think it will ever growl like my ST4 w/ the termi's, but what the heck? Checking w/ the dealer today to see how surgery is going.
