well, its getting to be that time, i've got about 6500 miles on a set of Michelin Pilot Sports, and the advice i've been getting at the other board is not to go over 75K with them.

so, i've come here looking for the more "touring" end of the sport/touring spectrum

what tires would you recommend, how about the "Pilot Roads" more miles and a little less sticky than the "Spoorts"??, any word on the Pirelli Diablo Stradas???, i've heard good things about milage out of Avons, i'd like to shoot for a 10,000 mile tire if possible

i'll be watching this thread too.

as people reply, please comment on % of interstate riding/touring you do, vs. curvy sporty riding, and how rough your roads are. for instance, here in texas, we have chip and seal roads, which are not nice smooth black top, and they seem to abuse my tires more than cruising on cement interstate or blacktop.

I ran MeZ4s on mine and liked them. I had MeZ6s on when I sold it and they were pretty terrific. Not sure how long they'll last where you are, but I got about 5 or 6K out of of the 4s and they were cooked from edge to edge.

if you liked the PSports, you'll probably be real happy with the PRoads. i got about 11K on my first set- great in dry and wet. i generally run pretty hard in the twisties (no chicken strips, fornt or rear). that last set probably had about 20% interstate on it.

Metzeler Z-6's are closer to the Pilot Sport than the Pilot Roads are in terms of cornering stick - check them out - my set have 7000 miles of mixed riding on them and still look very good.

why ride in the past? tires are sooo yesterday. had the snow queen fitted with round, powerful rare earth magno-tyres (set me back about $2850.00 per). now i ride on a cushion of magnetic energy like those faaaast trains in japan. the rockster now attains a blistering 168 mph in 3rd gear. i could not press it any further as my titanium sunglasses were being forced into my eyeholes. this gets me to the store in about 3 minutes and 28 seconds. i can't wait until my uni-suit from arai gets here. it is a carbon fiber one piece helmet-riding suit-gloves-boots that makes wind resistance nil. should pump it up one more notch for me n the queen.

hows come there weren't no arai ads in the new motorcyclist mag?
"you can spend $300 plus for an Arai....or you can buy a helmet that outperforms it in numerous tests for 80 bucks."
i read where K&N and Arai are merging to form OverpricedBikeShi*&.com
