Has anyone installed a Wunderlich oil cooler screen on their R1150RT? How was the installation? Did you have to take apart any of the tupperware?

wunderlick sucks, and their prices are even worse!! make one yourself out of heavy gutter screening.
yes, tupperware must come apart, at least if it is anything at all like my R11S. i needed to remove headlight unit, then screen goes in between light unit and nose piece.

why do they suck? Is it just their pricing?

overpricing products is one bad thing they do. repackaging products made by otehrs under their own name (and then jacking up the price) is the other.
quality seems fine- but why pay more for their name, when someone else made it, or can offer the same item for much less??

I know they have bar risers that are made by someone else and they mark up the price. But who makes the oil cooler screen? I have seen theirs and it looks great on my year bike. From what I've been told it bolts right in with out having to remove the tubberware.

If I can get it for less I'm all for that. Making my own I'm not that gifted.

Call a local Sport/Compact specialty shop and they will most likely give you enough expanded aluminum screen to make your own. Use some aluminum wire around 10awg to conform to the shape of the air intake. Roll the expanded metal around this and epoxy this inside the air intake. The epoxy will be the most expensive part. The shops around here also have the wire. I plan to do just that and if I can find some black oxidized aluminum I'll use that. :thumb
