Fuel Indicator- Reading Errors after Tank removal

Has anyone had troubles with their fuel indicator after taking the tank off? I've had the tank off before, and haven't had any troubles. After this last time with the tank off, the indicator only shows 3/4 with a full tank. And the low light came on with about 1.5 gals left.

What is even weirder is that it seems to be getting better after each new tank.

Before this last tank removal the indicator worked excellent, the light would come on at about 3/4 - 7/8 gal left.


Any tips / theories?

Any chance that the float inside the tank somehow got disturbed? Bumped or jarred maybe? :dunno

I changed my fuel filter out and since then full fuel the top LCD bar does not light. My lo level indicator has always come on with close to two gallons left around 160 miles I have gone as far as 230 miles and that time it took 5.9 gals to fill. When traveling I usually start looking for gas station after 175 miles.

I took the tank off to do the external fuel filtre mod. Ever since then the fuel gauge only goes up to 3/4 full.
