I am attempting to install an oil temp sensor on my 2002 R1150R. This web site "http://home.mindspring.com/~jabrooks/tech/oil_temp.htm#cyclerob" shows some detail on how to do the installation. I have the engine cover off and the appropriate tap and drill. I noticed on the back side of the location shown in the pictures "http://pages.sbcglobal.net/scrivano/phil/images/oil__temp1.jpg" and "http://pages.sbcglobal.net/scrivano/phil/images/oil_temp2.jpg" that there is some sort of channel that appears to not have a direct oil related function.
I am reluctant to drill first and ask later. Has anyone done this modification and is it ok to drill in the location noted on this web page?
