Hi Folks,
My purchase of a GT is iminent. It will fill the role of a long range tourer. I would appreciate hearing any pluses or minuses about ownership from current GT owners. I believe K1200RS owners could offer some performance/comfort info too.
I have spent the past 30 years on a '74 Norton cafe-racer, '98 Triumph Trophy and the past six months on a Rocket III. The GT will replace the Rocket (can't get use to that upright position).
Thanks in advance for your imput.

Positive:

Beautiful machine that gets regular looks. Butter smooth. GREAT brakes. You can go all day.

Negative:

Eats rear tires if you use the throttle. Speeding tickets. Fuel tank requires stops about every 160 mi.

I love mine....

I did a Saddle Sore 1000 on my bike only to discover that the event is a misnomer if you do it on the Brick. My butt didn't hurt at all. The speeding ticket point is unfortunately accurate. The machine is so smooth that I could cruise all day at 160 kmh but the speed reduction forces think that 100kmh is enough. Rats. You may not have that problem though because the GT doesn't come in the fastest colour, red. :D

You make a good point. My 04GT is the rare Piedmont Red GT. So you may not experience the rear tire shredding performance if you buy a blue or green :)

Welcome to the dark side, you'll love it! There's a wealth of information at Vic's K12 site:
