K1200RS Tire Pressure

I know BMW recommends 36 psi front and 42 psi rear. After installing new tires a shop told me to run 40 psi in the front. Whats the consensus regarding tire pressure for optimal handling and life. :drink

'02 K12RS...38 front, 42 rear when on the street. 36 front and rear when on the track. Have tried Metzler MEZ 4s, Pilot Roads, Bridgestone 020s, and get the best mileage/performance with the 020s. Most riding is 2-up. Bike now has over 52K on the odometer.
