There are a couple of places now for Ferry service. Muskegon to Milwaukee on a 2.5 hour high speed catamaran or from Ludington to Manitowoc on a 4 hour one. Does anyone know if Manitowoc is easier to navigate through than Milwaukee? Has anyone had experience with these services on MC's?
The reason I ask is cause Liz and I are heading out to Idaho in late August and we would like to avoid the Chicago area traffic plus a boat ride would be cool. We're lookin to take Wisc hwy # 29 to 13north then connecting to route 2 if we land in Manitowoc. ???

I live in Manitowoc, and can see the Badger twice a day. This is not a large town. Heading north out of town will parallel the lakeshore. Get to Kewaunee and pick up 29 to head west, but once you get to Green Bay it becomes 4-lane, interstate style. If you want a bit more scenic, then heading up to 2 in the UP is a good choice.
What's your pleasure? Drop me a line and let me know how I can help.

It's been a while since I was on HWY 13, probably because it was all tore up from logging traffic. I often ride to Mercer Wi. which is only 40 or so miles south of Ironwood-Hurley and US 2. Personally, I would hook-up with HWY.47 at Shawano and run it up to HWY.51 at Woodruff-Minouqua. If you are looking for some real fun, take a little detour on HWY.55 at Keshena, up to Langlade. Then back west on HWY.64 to 47.

That road is terrible, river is to close to the road, all those curves, forest canopy covering the road in places. Plus no police in sight.
Ok its not that bad.

Yea you're right Einstein, I keep forgetting about all those dang elevation changes in the turns. Without a gravel shoulder you can pick any line you want, what's the sport in that?
