Normally I don't get excited about ice cream (okay I do), but has anyone ate their ice cream? I've only had it 10-15 times since they built one 2 blocks away. Normally i prefer custard, don'y ask we like our dairy products here.
Today my boss tells me about some consumer reports article that CSC is over priced and the portions are to large. That got me wonderring, if its overpriced how can the portions be to large? its like saying I bought 10 lbs of Y for $1.00 from company A, when the company D sells it for $.50 for 3lbs . But Company A's portions are to big??
so the question is, anybody have the cake batter ice cream from cold stone?

I haven't been yet, but my youngest daughter LOVES the stuff.
She's quoted me a few prices, and yes it is spendy.
Here's my take on portions vs. price. My opinion is that I'd be happier with smaller portions with a smaller price. Same when I go to a "sports bar" and have a $9 dollar "half pound" burger with everything.
Now that you've posted this, I think I'll give it a try. I really don't need to eat more high cal foods.

Mark, your boss sounds gay. CSC started right here in the Phoenix area - and when it is 120 degrees outside there is no such thing as a serving of ice cream which is too big!

This is from the report in Consumer Reports:
The bottom line
Skip Cold Stone if you don’t want mix-ins. If you want good-tasting unadorned ice cream, you’ll be better off at Häagen-Dazs or Ben & Jerry’s, as the Quick Ratings show.
Bring your wallet. Ounce for ounce, Cold Stone costs about as much as Baskin-Robbins, and less than Häagen-Dazs and Ben & Jerry’s. But that 6-ounce cup costs around $3.50 (including the first mix-in), making each individual serving more expensive than the others. If your group orders four small cups with one mix-in each, you’ll shell out more than $14.
Bring your appetite. Cold Stone’s smallest serving size weighs 6 ounces before mix-ins are added. That’s at least 50 percent more than the other chains (see Quick Ratings).
Watch the mixing. Cold Stone concoctions can vary with the server--one of our mix-ins wasn’t very well mixed.
Grab the napkins. Cups we ordered were filled to overflowing, and the result can be messy if you order runny ingredients such as caramel sauce.

I love ice cream, have eaten Cold Stone's many times, and don't believe in Consumers' Reports.
Having said that, Cold Stone is the only ice cream serving I've ever purchased that I couldn't finish—they are the only place where I DON'T buy a large. I think it has something to do with the density of their product.
If I eat much more, I'm going to need a bigger bike. :sick

I always get the biggest one, and a lid. then I eat to my hearts content, and bring the rest home for later.

i pity you poor fools that don't have decent local ice cream. (http://www.amysicecream.com/)
this stuff rocks. even better, in order to work there you have to pass a "creativity test." are you boring, stupid, or just painfully dull? you're not hired. cool place.

We had Cold Stone in Nashville last November. There was some poor guy that was getting trained (must have been his first day), and he made one too big. The girl training him tossed it and made him start all over. What a waste! The customer watched this whole thing go down. You should have seen the look on the customer's face when she made the guy make a new, smaller cone! :p
Enjoyed our ice cream immensely!!!

I'm with you on this one. And I'd guess you run into some of the same problems I do, when you have to entertain a client over lunch or dinner.
10# down and only 30 to go!

I still miss Friendly's. Those Reese's Pieces Sundaes are tasty.
But what I really miss about New England is Kimball Farms Ice Cream in Carlisle. Made right there at the farm. The fresh strawberry sundaes are the best.

Friendly sundae-cups are available at the Supermarket sometimes. Do you want me to freezer-mail one to you? Is there such a thing as "freezer-mail"? Anyway, if there is, I'll send you your very own Friendly's ReesesPieces (or ReesesCup depending on what they have) ice-cream sundae, in a not-ridiculously-sized portion.

yes, it ships next day in a styrofoam cooler packed in dry ice. I have gotten meat from a German deli in texas in the summer that was still frozen solid.

I'm with you guys. My GF had the audacity to insist we stop at CSC the DAY I went on my cleanse prior to resuming my Atkins. It was my first time. I'll be back!
As for exercise, my favorite one is:
a) up with the birdies for a protein shake
b) 50 miles off-road in the desert on the F650 before lunch.
I'm down 16# going for another 6# and MY LEATHERS FIT AGAIN! :clap
And Username is right. CSC is the best thing in a CHAIN, but nothing beats local. Don't want to hijack a thread but two of my Favs are Bonnie Brae in Denver and Graeter's in Cincinnati (all over Ohio, IIRC)

Don't waste your time. If you want to "Freezer Mail" something to someone, try Montgomery Inn BBQ (http://www.montgomeryinn.com/catering/menu.html) . Most of the online deals come with a bit of Greater's.

Now you've got me thinking BBQ, guess I'll just have to head up to Macadoo's during the next sunbreak for a combo-plate with a side of fried pickles :thumb

:rolleyes Whatever, dude.
There can be plenty of visits to Friendy's when you come East. :thumb
We have a CSC here that is directly across from a 24 hour fitness, with great big windows so you can eat wonderful ice cream while watching people work out in little spandex outfits.
It's a guilty pleasure. :yum

Long before I heard of CSC, everybody here in Dallas was totally nutz about Marble Slab Creamery. Dunno how big they are or even if they are outside the local area but the idea is the same.
But I like Paciugo gelato better. YUM! Take some Paciugo home and pour liquer over it- DOUBLE-YUM!!!!!!!!
