I just purchased a new set of System Cases from Chicago BMW. I ordered them with the locks that you key to your existing key. Is this something that can be done easily, are their any clear instructions available or should I take the locks to a dealer? Thanks!

it requires the little pins that go in the lock, and your dealer could do it or any competant locksmith should be up to the task. Not hard to do if you have an assortment of the pins.

The quick and dirty way is just to stick your key in and file off everything that sticks up when you do. The RIGHT way is to swap the pins around until you find a combination the works. If you get them all to match but one (or two), you can leave the bad one(s) out or file down, as you see fit.

I do have all the springs and things that came from BMW along with instructions. The problem is the instructions are very vague.
PS: Flash, great book!! Thanks

The web site posted previously with pictures is great. I used it and it goes just fine. Fading eyesight made the job more difficult than it really is.
I might add though, go to your local BMW store and buy a new lock set (1 tumbler - about $20.00) it will come with loads of pins which should be enough, in conjunction with the ones in the locksets that are in your present bags to get your cases all properly pinned to your ignition key.
Good luck.

I bought some used system bags, and my dealer keyed them for around $20. Well worth it knowing it was done right.
