I always wear my high vis jacket and two weeks ago was within inches of being ran over by a pickup that came out of a Lowe's store, it happened so fast and with nowhere to go, cars on one side and a brick wall on the other, I unfortunately dropped the bike and scratched one saddle bag baddly. The driver's reaction was oh so sorry but he didn't see me. Of course he didn't see me because he wasn't looking when he pulled out.

You know, even with the Hi Viz Gear on, most people are in their own "enclosed" zones while driving in the protection of their caged vehicles. More than once, I've seen their facial expressions, I have just seemed to appear at the last second as they were changing lanes while putting on makeup, checking emails, texting, phoning, or sometimes just zoning out. It's that last split second that has kept me from being run over more than once.
