Hi gang - I bought a 77 R100S last summer and am learning to do the maintenance myself. I am new at this. I just replaced the original starter. Everything is back together, the bike starts and runs fine. I took it out for a couple jaunts over the weekend. The problem is my GEN light is illuminated and won't go out. I am concerned that I did not re-attache the diode board correctly. I wrote down the original connections and thought I got it done right, but now am not sure. My Clymer manual doesn't go into great detail on the connections. Can anyone recommend good source material on how this little monster works and should be hooked up?

Thanks.

Steve

After reading the suggested materials, I was able to get the board wired correctly and the GEN light now extinguishes beautifully at operating revs.

Thanks again Kent.

I just replaced the original starter.

I hope you kept it. They can be rebuilt very easily.

Alex - I did keep the old starter for a rainy day learning project. Unfortunately, the drive housing was severely cracked and broke in two upon removal.
