what are your top five records of all-time, i'm curious what the musical tastes here are, i know this is a close to impossible question, at least for me :dunno

i'm sure i have others i like more, but this is what i can think of now,

Led Zeppelin - Houses of the Holy
The Jam - Setting Sons
Stone Roses - s/t
The Church - Starfish
The Rolling Stones - Aftermath

well, thats all

boofer

Impossible

but we give it a try with just one per artist

King Crimson.....Red
Yes.....Tormato
Moody Blues.....Seventh Sojourn
Cat Stevens....Catch Bull At Four
Cassandra Wilson.....Blue Skies

Putting Led Zepplin on this list is about the same thing as UW Madison on a college "party-drinking" list, it's a given. The band I mix for does some Zepp, well a lot of Zepp (12 or so) On occasion I set the synth up and play "Kashmir" and "All of My Love" from the mixer. " The Song Remains The Same" is my favorite....

Delaney and Bonnie Bramblet - Delaney, Bonnie and Friends

Let me see:

I own about 1,000 CDs so it is a little tough. So how about this week's list:

King Crimson - Red
Peter Gabriel - Us
Nine Inch Nails - Pretty Hate Machine
California Guitar Trio - Whitewater
Bruce Springsteen - Born to Run

Yup Boofer, you and I are going to get along just fine. Where is Grey Matter on this one?

Such a difficult question...

1. Rush : Chronicles
2. Queen : Greatest Hits
3. Linkin Park : Hybrid Theory
4. Joe Satriani : Time Machine (or possibly 'Flying In A Blue Dream')
5. Dr. Demento : 30th Anniversary Collection

I have very eclectic tastes. Ask me next week, and maybe only 1 of these would still be on the list.

3) Cream - Disraeli Gears
4) Springsteen - The River
5) Jackson Browne - The Pretender

This leaves out Santana, Bob Seger, the Dead, RayCharles, all of Motown and so much more.

Oh boy. This is difficult, but here goes.

Diana Krall - Love Scenes
Soul Coughing - Ruby Vroom
Public Enemy - Fear of a Black Planet
The Beatles - White Album
Miles Davis - Kind of Blue

That's this week's list. It'll be all different in a couple days.

It probably took me 15 minutes to put that together and it bears no relation to the original list I made.

I often rave about each of these albums as being "one of my top 5 favorite of all time," but then again my use of superlatives could be likened to Jose Canseco's take on steroid use in Major League Baseball: rampant.

Prince - Purple Rain
Alice in Chains - Jar of Flies
Led Zeppelin - Physical Graffiti
Belle and Sebastian - Boy With the Arab Strap
Soundtrack of Saturday Night Fever

Sibelius! :thumb I'd never heard any of his music until I heard a particular violin concerto in Paris a month or so ago. I forget what it was called (dumb, I know), but it was mind blowing. And you can't go wrong with the Ring Cycle.
