I will really appreciate some help with the following:
Bought my R1200GS from the BMW Plant in Mexico last December, so this bike was already addressed with two recalls *Fuel pump Control unit seal, and ABS sensor. When returning from a trip to the rainy Huasteca, the bike didn’t start at a Gas station, fortunately the BMW Van was with us in this trip and they helped to start the bike doing a reset of the fuel pump control unit (simple disconnect and connect). They told me that the control unit was faulty, and should be replaced under guarantee by a new one.

When I arrived to Mexico, I took the Bike to BMW Planta Toluca, and they simple reset the computer, and the bike just run fine for another 150KM when the fuel pump died again, fortunately for me this happen at the BMW Plant.

I left the bike second time for repair, they replaced the fuel pump control unit, the gasket and test ride the bike. Again, the fuel pump simple died. At the moment they are trying to find out what is wrong with the fule pump, but no answer whatsoever.

If someone had a similar problem please help

Just want to add that my bkie has already 3 wks at the dealer now. Completed disasembled, and currently all can.bus cables are being check. They already changed the fuel pump controller, with no succsess. Next week step is to request a new computer under guarantee though the dealer will lend me a R1200RT for the easter week. Great service in Mexico so far.

Have they also changed the relays? That can prevent the bike from starting or staying running. They might as well give you all new relays to make you happy.

Two things came out today with the fuel pump issue:

1. According with the dealer, there is a sensor in front of the engine were the alternator band is. This sensor is supposed to detect the crankcase when it turns and feed back this info to the computer. Apparently is faulty and must be changed. They have asked for one from Germany. :clap :drink. It it will take probably two Mexican weeks, I suppose "Mañana... :jose

2. Dealer says that the side stand switch will also be replaced as this apparently is the second cause of failure, don't know about this one but for me this is the problem :dunno.

My bike has 2000KM now, and the dealer has not been able to identify clearly the fault with the diagnostic system GT1. It is funny but he indicated that they have already received 16 software updates since this model was launched, and eventually all faults will be identified over time, so next time I take my bike for service they will be able to detect more faults if any!!. This is suppuse to be the advantage of the can bus. Don't know about this one but it seems to me that this particular BMW model bike is still under develpment. :banghead
