Does anyone know if the Hepco Becker bags will fit in the stock bag mounts for the 84 R80ST? I like the looks of their Junior line, and It is getting hard to find bags for this vintage bike. I have the chrome mounts, and wondered if any aftermarket bags would fit? Thanks. http://lorazepam.smugmug.com/photos/15805115-M.jpg

Wish I could help ya Loraz, but it's much more modern than what I have experience with. Kinda looks a little like Krauser mounts but I just don't know enough about middle and late airheads. Does it have seat belt clips or the ears to mount them?

What you see is what I have, if there is another part to the mount, I didnt get it with the bike. I have no experience with these mounts/cases, so I guess I will just wait till someone can identify them and give me a clue.

If all else fails, I can go with something like Flash did with his thumper, but orange sidecases will not be in the plans :stick

On the big 4 sided loop, the part with the corner gussets with the plastic buttons, on the trailing edge by the side reflector, are there attachments, or tangs with holes, or just plain holes in the tubes, or anything that might hold devices for attaching luggage? Maybe a rear view of the bike would be helpful.

Doesn't matter.

HB (or BMW, actually) can provide the "seatbelt latch" in form of something that just clamps to your existing mounts.

The HB bags will fit just fine, but that doesn't mean you still shouldn't use a smaller left bag than right bag as BMW specifies.

There are no mounting tangs, and the right one has a hole just under the gusset, but the left one doesnt. It had a set of what I believe are krauser bags at one time: but I didnt get them with the bike.http://

Thanks Kent. I knew you'd know. What the reasoning behind the smaller left bag?

the dang exhaust pipe goes up the left side like an enduro bike

Yes, so the left bag mounts farther out and order to present symmetrical aero resistance, left bag is shallower so it only goes out as far to the left as the right one does to the right.

If it wasnt a GS exhaust and really cool, I would change it so I couold use symmetrical bags
