I found this in my tail cowling when I was cleaning teh bike today...
It's a little over 4 inches long, soft rubber (almost feels hollow)
Looks like it should pad something on the bike....it even has a round indentation on the bottom that looks like it should mount to
Any thoughts? :dunno

It goes between the gas tank and the frame, so that hot air is forced out the side openings in the fairing. Beats the heck out of me where the exact spot is located tho.

Just a guess. I think it goes on the lower rear fairing bracket behind the knee pads. It's function is to block the hot air from your legs.

Correct - right side IIRC.. the funny recess in it is for the bracket mounting bolt/washers.

Thanks All,
After getting a general idea I went to an online parts fiche and found where it goes. Of course, that right side cover wasn't there but it is now on its way!
(Which of course doesn't matter now as I am following the Eilenberger wisdom of not starting it until I'm ready to ride!)
