My left turn signal has stopped blinking. Both front an rear signals still turn on as part of the running lights. I tried swapping out the Kisan Signal Minder for the stock unit, but they still will not blink.

Could this be the same problem as with my car, which stops blinking when one of the bulbs go? The only thing giving me doubts is the fact that they still come on as part of the running lights, so they still appear to turn on, they just don't want to flash?

Can anyone give me any suggestions?

The easiest thing to do is a continuity test on the bulbs to see if they are blown. Take them out, set your meter to ohms. Test by placing one lead on the brass outer part, and then touch the lead looking piece in the center and see if the meter changes.
If you have two lead looking thingies, then your running lights will work even if the turn signal part is blown. If they are single filament bulbs, assuming you dont have a blown bulb, I would go next to the left turn signal switch. See if it is in working order.
I will refer you to a manual for a breakdown for that. If you are working on your bike without a manual, then shame on you. Go the the dealer and get one, or at least check out max bmw for parts breakdown of the left hand assembly.

Philabeemer - you're saying that the bulb is good because it comes on as a running light with the Kissan, but the turn signal switch will not activate it as a blinker?

I've had a similar - if not the same - problem with my left turn signal. My problem was intermittent though. Sometimes I'd push the switch 3-4 times before it would come on. Sometimes it never came on.

I tried several times to flush it out with electric connector cleaner with little effect. Finally I gave it a good flush with WD40; BINGO. That cured it.

Remove the switch assembly from the handlebars. It is held in place by a single screw on the underside of the assembly. Hold it in a rag while you stick the red WD40 straw into the switch unit. Blast the heck out of it while you continually work the switch. This might not fix it for you, but it's cheap and easy enough to try.

steve-O has good advice to try.
A year ago it wasn't my turn signals but the brake light would stay on constantly. Thought I had checked everything but my bike was due for a service so I dropped it off at my BMW dealer.

When I picked it up, they had found a small nest of tiny red spiders had made a home in the right turn signal/brake switch housing. They brushed them out, hosed it with WD-40 and 'Voila', everything works perfect.
