Ok, I stink when it comes to computers. This bad boy pops up with new ads every half minute or so. How do I find it and kill it. Plus, can anyone recommend a program which does the best job of keeping garbage out of my computer?

We use Ad-Aware SE Professional at work and I have the home users version. Seems to catch more than I realized. And the home edition is free. You also can research Smantec's site. Do you have AOL? or something else?
Sometimes your service will offer something for pop ups. But I really like the Ad-Aware SE Personal

you can keep your PC. (i'm getting a mac mini this summer, i can't resist any longer.) download the mozilla browser, "firefox." install the google toolbar. go to panicware.com and download the free popup stopper. run spybot and adaware. some of this is redundant, but it doesnt hurt anything. so there you go, you spend no money and you can scrub your computer, and then keep it scrubbed.

Also Microsoft Service Pack 2 did an okay job of stopping stuff, but I am pretty happy with McAfee Security Suite. The key to any of this stuff is to keep it up to date.

OK, maybe I'm way off base here, but isn't my computer 'mine'!!?? Am I wrong thinking that the folks who take over my computer need a good beating? Am I wrong thinking that if the rotten....um.....um....whatever... people who do this should be locked into a room with me, armed with a Louisville Slugger?? Just thinking..........(wishing)..... :D
