well, first time i've been back here since i got the new oilhead a few weeks ago and i'm looking for some advice....

as some of you know, i took it on a long x-country trip last fall and ended up hurting my leg in portland oregon (non mc related) and had to fly home, leaving the airhead in the care of a friend, who still has it.....

he had promised to get back to me about possible purchase, but hasn't. i was gonna give him a real steal on it cause it needs the top end re-done and the carbs rebuilt (among a few other things) now the trouble is, if he doesn't take it, i'm not sure what i want to do. he lives on a sorta hippy commune type place out on the olympic peninsula (i can immagine what the rain is doing to teh poor bike out there) and direct pickup and shipping back is out of the question due to where he lives. selling it from across the country is kind of hard too due to its location. i don't really have the time to fly back and get it and ride it home either.

i guess what i'm asking is what would YOU do??? its an 84, obv ridden hard, needs the work and is gonna need a new rear tire. i love the bike, but in all honesty, with the new oilhead, probably won't ride it a lot. :dunno

Well Bubba, I think you could get it transported back home for around $500. You could ask around this forum for a local (NW) enthusiast to broker a sale for you for a cut. Or,you could just abandon it. Personally, I'd fork out the fee to get it hauled back to my location.

I would go with the idea of asking someone on the forum to go pick it up for you and deliver it to the local dealer where they might be able to sell it on consignment.

Also you may want to call on pricing, I helped a friend ship a bike and it only cost $300 through a moving company as there was no time table for delivery by a certain date.

I'd put it on ebay and take whatever you can get.
