Can I post thumbnails of pics I have in photobucket. I want to share about 30 pics from a trip but that will take a lot of space if I img each one.

You certainly can. But as long as they are stored on Photobucket, they really don't take up much space here and look much better full size.

The upside of thumbnails might be that the initial forum screen loads faster and then I can choose which pictures I might want to see full-size.

If you want to follow Voni's example, where a thumbnail is an active link to a full sized photo, click on the quote button under her post to see how she did that.

The basic idea is you get the URL for your thumbnail, say

http://www.example.com/some/path/thumb.jpg

You can generally get the URL for your images from the photo sharing site you're using. IMPORTANT: this won't work unless the URL you have ends in .JPG.

Once you have the thumbnail URL, surround that with [ img] and [/img] tags*:

[ img]http://www.example.com/some/path/thumb.jpg[/img]

That displays the thumbnail. But to get the thumbnail to link to to the regular photo, you need the URL of that photo. Let's say it's:

http://www.example.com/some/path/original.jpg

To link to that photo, you need to put it inside a [ url] tag* and surround the thumbnail [ img] tag to make it a live link:

[ url=http://www.example.com/some/path/original.jpg]
[ img]http://www.example.com/some/path/thumb.jpg[/img]
[/url]

*) there's no space allowed in the [ img] and [ url] tags. I've added them here so that the forum software won't try to turn these examples into images and links.

A cool thing about Photobucket is that they give you those options and you just copy/paste the link for what you want to show.
