As we know, the clutch levers on R1100RT's and RS's is cable actuated and is not adjustable like the brake lever is. My wife has small hands so I have been searching for a adjustable clutch lever to fit her RS, all to no avail.

It was recommeded that I look at the F650 optional lever as it was adjustable. Yes it is, but a completely different configuration and short of remanufacturing it, it won't work.

It was recommended that I try and bend the existing lever but was counseled by several sages against this as it would probably break shaping it and if not, somewhere down the road.

Contacted Magura, the folks who built the whole clutch/brake lever systems for BMW and they never have and never will manufacture a lever like I'm looking for.

So, if anyone out there has ANY suggestions on where I could beg borrow or buy an adjustable clutch lever for a R1100RS, please let me know. If you know of anyone who has made something that works, please let me know. If somebody's friend's friend has one, please let me know how to contact them.

Ideally, I'd like to match the rotary dial adjustability of the brake lever but at this point I really don't care, as long as I can get the lever a little closer to the handlbar for the little lady without jeopardizing the clutch - yes, I've backed off the adjuster at the bar but it's still a bit of a pull for her and her darling little hands! :D Any and all help will be greatly appreciated.

Bugly, some years ago the brake lever on my K bike was bent in a tipover; the centerstand broke 500 miles from home. I gently heated the lever up with a torch - off the bike - and used a rubber mallet and block of wood to slowly "forge" it back into shape. So...when I decided I wanted to reduce the clutch lever reach on my R1100RT I did the same thing. I brought the end of the lever maybe 1/4 inch closer to the grip - not the ideal fix, but it helped me out. (It seems like the limiting factor would be providing enough cable pull before the lever bottoms out against the grip.) I'd say, try it. For insurance you could always go ahead and purchase a replacement lever first. Throw it in the tankbag in case the modified one ever fails. If you do find an aftermarket replacement I'd be interested in seeing a pic.

Is it possible for a machine shop to weld a piece of stock to the back of it, then taking a mill and reshaping it? Are there any machinists in the crowd? What are the chances of this working?

Nothing says you can run extra clutch freeplay at the lever!
