I am restoring a R90S for a friend, and could use some help wiring up the existing Dyna III ignition. I got the thing in a box, and no longer have any reference manuals relating to this.
It is a dual-plug arrangement, fully electronic (sensor instead of points and amplifier) with 2 dual-output, orange KV coils. - are these coils 12V or 6V (basically, are they hooked up in parallel or series)?
There are 5 leads coming out of the control unit. Two leads go to the sensor, leaving a red, black and brown wire. I expect the red is the power to the unit, the black is ground, and the brown goes to the coils. - The power will come from the green/blue wire on the BMW harness, but I am unsure if this wire is also connected to the coils (the other side from the brown wire).
Are these Dyna units capacitor discharge (where the current in the coil is suddenly turned on to produce the spark), or a saturated ignition (where the coil is saturated and power is suddenly chopped to produce the spark)?

If you have such a system, how (to what) is yours connected? If anyone has information that can help, I would appreciate it.

Cheers
John
