Hey BMW Group;

My factory BMW battery has gone 5/6 of 12 V. So that means one
cell has died.

Anyone have a suggestion for a new battery.

This one a factory BMW battery and it has lasted about 6 years.
Nothing to say bad about it.

I put a Panasonic Sealed Lead Acid, LC-X1228P, in my K100RS. I got it from http://www.digi-key.com/

Donn,
Here's another vote for the Panasonic LC X1228P from DigiKey. If you order it, send a check and they ship it free. $58.28 last I checked. I use this battery in my K1100LT and my R100RS. I replace them about every 4 years just because I'd rather do the replacing in my garage and not on the road. :)

Well Thanks for the suggestions. I have also found a local site that sells BMW K100 LT batteries and on the net they have 10% discount.
"http://www.batteriesplus.com/".

I might also check them out

also check www.odyssee.com
" http://www.odysseybatteries.com/battery/pc680.htm"

Only problem is the color - God awful ORANGE

I recently installed an Odyssey PC925L. If I recall correctly it was $97.00 plus about $17.00 shipping... the thing weighs 23 pounds!!
With 925 amps of cranking power the bike fires right up even though it's been sitting at below freezing temps in an unheated garage.

*edit* Check the application or call West Coast Battery for the correct battery for your bike. Some of the K's take the 925 instead of the 680 which is smaller and has less cranking power / amps.

Did the Odyssey PC 925L battery fit in your K1 with ok room. I have a 1985 BMW K100RS (factory stock) the fit looks too close to call (or order). I tried a westco battery a few years ago, but it was too tall. The 5yo BMW battery is 6-5/8" tall, the max. room is 7" or less before hitting the fuel injector unit box

I called Odyssey Batteries and the guy said that the PC680 is plenty of amps for a motorcycle. It is much smaller than the PC925L and it weighs less than 14.5 lbs. Only drawback is that it is orange/red. I think I would probably spraypaint it black before installing it.

Yes, it fit fine. it's slightly narrower in the tray. There were no clearance issues with the main computer on top or the ABS computer on the rear.

I have pictures of the install... I just don't know how to post them. :dunno

I ordered an Odyssey PC-680 today and they now make them with a black case and a red top. :clap

Does any one know where a person could buy any of these batteries in Canada?
Thanks,

Does anyone know whether my 1994 K75RT takes the same battery as the K100? I contacted technical support at Digi Key, but they don't have a cross listing for different motorcycles. Thanks.

I just measured mine. Add a very small amount.

Long top measurement = 7.25
Shaor top measurement = 5.0
height = 6.5
Plus Terminal is on the Kick Stand/Shifter side
Neg Terminal is on the Foot Brake side
Breather/Drain tube outlet is on the Plus side

Bob,
There are only two K-bike batteries, the 19AH and the 25AH (Mareg, wet cells) The Panasonic batteries also come in two sizes that work on our K's. The 20AH is 7.126 X 2.992 and 6.575" high. The 28AH is 6.496 X 4.921 and 6.890" high.
If your K75 has room for the 25AH original battery, use the 28AH Panasonic
LC-X1228P. Otherwise, get the LC-X1220P if you only have room for the small battery, simple. :)
