Hey Guys (and girl or two),

I installed a Kisan Signalminder SM-5 on my 04 R1150RT today - what a great little device! I tried to install the brake light hard-wire option, which suspends the SM-5 timer while the brake is applied (nice feature at stop signs and red lights).

Problem is the SM-5 instructions say to attach the wire to the brake wire, and describe the wire as "gray with a yellow stripe". I couldn't find such a wire, but I did find a blue one with a yellow strips. I opened it up, but no voltage detected when I applied the brake lever. So - I don't have a wiring diagram and rather than cutting open all my wires - does anyone konw which one is the brake wire on an 04 R1150RT? Which wiring harness (going in to which module) does it reside in?

Thanks in advance, Bob

The easiest way is to hook up at the brake light. The diagram that I have shows that it is a gray with yellow stripe. Regardless it shouldn't be hard to find once you remove the taillight housing. There are only two wires on the brake light. One is brown which is the ground. The other is the wire you want. You cannot hook up to the brake switch directly since of the ABS system. The brake switch wires do not go to the brake light. Instead they go into the ABS module. It's unpredictable what would happen if you hooked up to the brake switch under these circumstances.

Kioolt - Thanks! I went in at the brake light, found the wire you described and got it all hooked up just fine. The Kisan unit works exactly the way it's supposed to and having the brake light in the loop is very useful. Appreciate the help, Bob
