Front Rotor Bolt Recall

I got a letter in the mail today from BMW. My 2009 F650GS twin has a recall to replace bolts or washers, on the front disc.

I note there was a discussion thread in February 2009 regarding a prior recall on the 2008 F650GS that sounds similar. Just wanted to give y'all a "heads up, " to check to see if your bike is on the recall list.

Yeah... mine just came as well.

If I recall correctly, the prior recall was for slightly longer cap screws for more thread engagement and different torque procedure.

This one ... they don't like the washers ??? :scratch

Yes, maybe this caused my front wheel bearing and rotor problems???????

Not sure, but from what I have read, this recall was done only because the bolts can loosen up over time so I would not suspect the two are related but could be wrong...

I got the letter also. Why do they send them out in the winter time. I will have to wait untill the weather is ok to make the 140 mile trip to the closes dealer.

It's not winter EVERYWHERE
It's supposed to hit 76F here in NC today :clap

Besides the dealers need the work during the off-season ... ;)
