Need input regarding tire wear - Z6

I have a '02 K1200RS. Rear tire, Metzler Z6-170, is cupping so bad it's not rideable. Tire has about 6,000 miles on it. Anyone else having this problem?

think maybe it was just out of balance? - tire-cupping isn't the tires fault - something causes it

I have to agree, especially with a rear tire. Out of balance is the most likely cause, but suspension wear, specifically the shock absorber, could also be a factor. Given the age of your bike though, I wouldn't expect that yet.

I am on my second set of Z6's, third, maybe fourth set of tires overall. My rear get flat, almost square from a lot of touring miles with a loaded bike. I got 12,000 from the first set and have approximately 8k on the set I am running now. I run around 39 psi in the rear and 37 in the front.

My original rear was so square when I changed it that it would stand up by itself. It handled okay except when it was wet. I have 43,000 on my '04 1150 RT.

Never seen the rear cup though, especially at 6K.
