I was thinking about getting the pipes Jet-Hot coated. Anyone with any experience with this. An old roomate had his done on his Harley Sportster. Its supposed to keep the gasses insulated from the outside a bit, to possibly scavenge better.?. Maybe let the engine run more cool.?

I think Rob Nye had this done on his R11S.

What is Jet-Hot coating? I had my headers ceramic coated for the heat dissipation. I had only the outside of mine done, but they can do inside and out.

Same thing. Jet-Hot is a trademark, So, how do you like your pipes coated, any differences?

I noticed a performance difference because I went to a two-into-one at the same I had the header coated. The theoretical difference is cooler running heads on the ceramic coating. I can say for sure that shortly after shutting the bike down the header is cool to the touch, cool much quicker than when I had the stock pipes.

They say that the exhaust gasses are supposed to maintain a higher temp since they are insulated somewhat which results in a more rapid expulsion through the system. Cooler running heads on an airhead is a good thing. I am curious to the degree the head is kept hot from the radiant exhaust pipe metal.

I did this move on the advice of my mechanic. I will ask him some specifics on how much cooler. In the mean time if no one with more knowledge than I responds to this thread check out airheads.org and the forums over there.
