Apparently I must have parked the RS too close to a Harley as it is now bleeding profusely from the base of the starboard head gasket - right behind the exhaust manifold. Am about to dig into it and was wondering if there are any tricks or surprises awaiting the uninitiated. :dunno

I had to change both head gaskets on my wife's 94 RS a couple years ago. They all fail eventually so its best to just replace both at the same time with the updated version. You will need to keep tension on the cam chain while the head is off as it can pop off down below if you don't. You do not want this to happen. Read through the procedure in the repair manual & you should be fine. I used a bungy cord anchored to another bike to tension the chain, it only gets tricky when you are removing & reinstalling the head as you have to juggle both. Make sure you get the cam timing lined up properly or you will bend a valve when you fire it up. Good luck!
