Anybody else liking the Wunderlich- modded F800 GS?
Took off over 60 lbs! with lot of shedding and some smart new bits.
Reprogrammed to deal with any fueling issues as well.
The base bike is a pretty nice machine- ample power, good gearbox, nicer handling than the- to me not so desirable 1200 GS
Looks like a real sweet ride at its new weight while preserving most of the virtues of the original except maybe the ability to sling jesses or similar on the back.

The only thing (best) that I could find of my bike-on a diet-is over at Advrider. I think that could go in the woods. There is some stuff on the German site but a couple of great pictures Here (http://advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=629161) Gary

That reference is the one I meant. I'm pretty old school- did mucho miles on J-brand and other "enduros" in the 60s and 70s including single track and some moderate off road.
Would like a truly road capable machine with some serious power and relaxed 80 mph pavement capability that is also good at single track with moderate off road capability. NOT looking for something approaching a 450 MX machine- too old to want to get beat up that badly anymore. I like the F800 as a good motor/tranny combo that could use to shed a bunch of weight and and get a decent front end- but with that done would be pretty close to what I've got in mind. The theoretical 2 cyl Husky made off a similar powerplant/tranny might also fit.
Have played with a couple of the current Husky supermotos and off road stuff- they are not it. Too "hard edged" (and probably too maintenance intensive and fragile) for my tastes and the J-brand single cylinders don't do it for me either. Want weight down around 350 ideally but 25 lbs more might be OK IF the power is there. Leaving off crap not needed is fine by me- I can always get on my RT if I want all the goodies and I have no interest in passenger carrying ability on such a machine.
Zero interest in a GS1200 or Tenere- to me those are the worst of both worlds glued together. I'd take a real road bike and a real dirt bike first. Not a fan of 5500 lbs 4wd trucks either- light is good in the dirt and the tougher the dirt gets, the lighter the bike should be.

Well....there isn't much I can add to your post Racer7. That seems to sum up what I think of dirt riding. My F800GS is a dual sport but if you want to push it through the rocks of New England you have you have to work your butt off. It's still a fun bike on dirt/gravel roads but through the rocks it more work that I want. I am also looking for something to have a little New England style dirt riding on. :thumb Gary
