I an disassembling my front end to install new steering head bearings. I removed the fork tubes, brake banjo fitting and calipers. For the life of me I cannot get the ignition switch out of the dashpad so I can get to the 30mm nut holding the top triple clamp. I pried off the switch bezel and the switch moves about 3/4" down the dashpad and stops dead. No amount of cussing, prying or twisting will get it out. I am afraid of breaking the switch. What is the secret?

I suspect the 2 detent tabs are still holding it in. Take a look at a diagram of the switch body, there are 2 heavy cast plastic tabs w/hooks to hold it. It'll take a pair of screwdrivers to push them in & release the switch.

Thank you very much 10sec. and it was out. I could never find a reference to those tabs and would never realize that both would have to be pressed at the same time.
Thanks again
