Does anyone know of a product that will bring my handlebars closer to me, as well as raise them? I put the Wunderlich 20mm risers on my 2010 F650GS but it's still not enough. This morning, I tilted the handlebars as far down as possible but the very end of the bars actually taper down anyway and sets my arms too far forward and down. I've still been getting shoulder blade pain, although the 20mm risers helped tremendously. Also, I don't have a windscreen other than the stock one (I just love the naked bike thing and don't mind wind). The wind seems to hit me on the chest and then over my helmet, but I'm wondering if the shoulder pain is exacerbated by me having to hold on tighter. I don't have death grip, but definitely get more pain in the throttle side shoulder blade.

The bar risers that I have on my F-800GS are from ROX http://www.roxspeedfx.com/cgi-bin/cart/showitems.cgi?subcat_id=297 . Model # 3R-P2PPL . They allow adjustment front to back and the bars to move up and down. The drilled interior holes allow for some extra accessories. BTW you don't have to replace the front brake line but I did at the scheduled Brake fluid change. The brake system was going to be open anyway. Got the new one from http://www.spieglerusa.com/ . I ordered it 2 inches longer. HTH Gary

A throttle rocker may also help ease your shoulder pain.

You also have to get used to leaning forward in your seat and gripping with your thighs to aleviate some of the weight your putting on your arm/shoulder.

I have one. I just don't put it on until I hit open road. I live in the san francisco bay area, too curvy to have one permanently mounted on my throttle for safety reasons. But thx for the suggestion.

Rox DOES have one that works on the F650GS but it is, as you suspected, a different p/n from the one used on the F800GS!

$340 ... :scratch seems a bit steep.
The Rox would be less expensive and give most adjustability ... which you might not need...
but I gotta admit I like the looks of thos better!
I have ABS on my bike, which has different brake hose than the non-ABS model, but I can not imagine being able to use the stock brake line with either the Rox or this unit...

On my F800GS you don't have to get a new brake line. If you are using the full articulation of the mounts the stock line will be tight. There has been a bunch of methods to getting a little slack from reversing the ends to slightly bending the tube at the banjo mount. I chose the new line.

That set-up from bobs looks real slick. From what I can tell the mounting will be easier as with the rox. In the most rearward positing (with the rox) you have to be creative in tightening the bolt that is closest to the seat. Don't forget to let us know how you make out. Gary

I just ordered them and will have the dealer install and reroute the cables. Then I'll post the pictures. Btw, they were 60 bucks cheaper than bobsbmw.

Damn...I wish I would have seen that sooner! If the other one doesn't work, I'll keep it in mind. Creative cycles said that the one I ordered wouldn't need a longer brake line, since they include an extension. The technician will have to reroute the cable but it should be long enough. I'm also wondering if my Wunderlich tank bag is going to get in the way. We'll see. There's always the option of rolling the handlebars a bit, too.

I just opened the package and shot the installation instructions and parts included for anyone that wants to see. The photos can be downloaded and enlarged. The install will be done tomorrow morning...and I will post photos after. My shoulder blades are very excited!

The install took 2.75 hours, mostly because the bracket and bolt to hold the brake line extender (see picture) were interfering with the frame. The technician had to saw down the bolt, and move it around on the bracket to find a position that worked. After he got that squared away, and rerouted the cables (still original stock brake and clutch lines). The risers are completely installed now, and everything is operational, but the stretch is tight for the front brake line, even with the extender. I'll have to keep an eye on it. The handguards are close to hitting my tank, but they're okay....no rotating the handlebars to tweak my control positions! All in all, the parts are good quality and the setback is substantial....exactly what I was looking for. By the way, the tech told me that the instructions were basically useless. Good thing I took it to the BMW shop.

:thumb Looks great. I've never seen a brake line adapter like that but it looks like a clever way to handle length problems. If you still think it's too tight you can get an extended line from Speigler and when there is a scheduled brake service-flushing-you could change it then. As for the instructions, they were perfectly clear to the guy that wrote them!!! After you get a few rides in let us know how you like them.. Gary

I highly recommend these bar risers for anyone who is hesitant to take the plunge. The first couple of rides really threw me, since I was used to a more sport like position. I am absolutely more upright but have had no pain in my shoulder blades since the modification. The risers turned out to be the perfect distance set back, but about 1/2" too high. Even so, they've presented no problem, no pain, so it's a non-issue. The Wunderlich tank bag does get in the way of tight steering maneuvers and using the handlebar lock when turning the ignition key is really pushing it. It's acceptable, however. I've had to adjust the controls and the OEM handguards somewhat, and as a result tilt the front brake reservoir just a touch, but it's all well within decent limits. The brake cable extension was a bit tight and the mechanic told me to keep and eye on it. It's hasn't budged, and ironically, when I re-adjusted the clutch and brake controls, it gave that extension a bit more breathing room. High marks for this bar riser.
